Cue the Fiddler on the Roof music…
Two of my favorite times on the beach are sunrise and sunset. Peaceful and serene. Time for reflection and gratitude. Moments in time that seem to happen in slow motion and yet if you blink it’s over. Today when I was alone at the beach watching the sunrise, I thought about how quickly time goes when you are raising a family. Our girls are grown and living their lives away from us. We miss them greatly, but we can’t be sad when they are happy. I have often heard the phrase “a mother is only as happy as her least happy child”. When we see our girls embracing life and creating memories, even though they are far away, we feel grateful and happy. Life isn’t always easy and there are difficult times sprinkled in with the good times–we cry together and laugh together.
One of the things that the girls said to us as we planned to sell the house they grew up in and start on this journey was “wherever you are is home”. That stays in my heart every day.
